Construction of joint factory of IMT and IMR in Barič in the pipeline

The Assistant to the Minister of Economy, Milan Josipović, said today (December 1st, 2009) that the construction of the joint factory of Industry of Machines and Tractors (IMT) and Industry of Engines Rakovica (IMR) in Barič, in the location of factory "Prva iskra", was in the pipeline.

- The state is working on making one out of two tractor factories, and the plan is that the relocation of the factories be done in 2010 - Josipović said at the meeting of the Board for Industry in the Chamber of Commerce of Serbia.

As he explained, negotiations with potential strategic partners will start in mid-December, and the first phase anticipates business-technical and commercial cooperation, which would later serve as the base for strategic cooperation.

- The aim is that the state preserves and develops automotive industry and certain factories of agricultural machines - said Josipović.

According to his words, it is expected that the solution for the tractor factory would be similar as the one for "Zastava" in Kragujevac.
