Jugoimport-SDPR makes profit of RSD 2.5 billion in 2019

The director of the PE Jugoimport-SDPR, Jugoslav Petkovic, stated that the company had made a profit of RSD 2.5 billion in 2019.

This is the arms factory's third best result since 2012.

In an interview for Blic, Petkovic said that the company had paid RSD 5.5 billion in profit between 2012 and 2018, which means that, in seven years, it paid five times more than in the previous 12 years.

At the same time, EUR 98 million was put into investments, whereas, in the previous 12 years, it invested EUR 5.8 million in the production capacities of its subsidiaries, Petkovic said.

He specified that most investment had been made in the Uzici facility, Kovački centar, Borbeni složeni sistemi, Kapislana, Precizni liv in Ada... Petkovic also said that Jugoimport-SDPR had employed 660 people at the end of 2011 and 1,414 at the end of 2019 and added that the number of employees had only increased in the production sector, whereas, in the administration, it had been reduced.

He also pointed out that SDPR had never asked or received state aid from the budget for either itself or any of its subsidiaries.

Talking about the export of arms, Petkovic said that it was least exported to war zones. He also said that, until 2012, Serbia had traded with eight countries, whereas now it traded with 40 countries and added that its best clients were countries in the Middle East and Africa, as well as the USA.

Petkovic also pointed out that, when it comes to the transparency of the issuing of permits for the export of arms, Serbia was fifth in the world, with the USA, Russia and China behind.

He said that each contract envisaged a ban on the re-exporting of arms without explicit consent by SDPR, meaning that it can't end up in the hands of terrorist organizations.
