Dedinje Institute has most open heart surgeries in Europe

The Dedinje Institute for Cardiovascular Diseases has reached an all-time high in all segments of its operations. With 2,500 open heart surgeries, it placed first in Europe.

– We are first in Europe by the number of open hear surgeries using a heart-lung machine, but also in all other segments, considering the cramped spaces and the conditions we work in – said Dr Milovan Bojic, as reported on the institute's website.

He added that 16 procedures, new in both Serbia and the region, had been implemented as well.

Dr Miodrag Peric, the head of the Cardiac Surgery Clinic, noted that said surgical procedures were performed on adults and that the institute did every kind of cardiac surgery procedure available in the world.

The Vascular Surgery Clinic has also reached the absolute maximum when it comes to the number of operations.
