Brodosplit to build polar expedition boat for American company

Shipbuilder Brodosplit is building a technologically advanced boat for polar expeditions for the American company Quark Expeditions, which will be named Ultramarine and be able to take in 200 passengers, the Split-based company announced.

The press release says that the boat, which will be 128 meters long and 21.5 meters wide and have a gross weight of 13,500 tons, will start sailing in 2020.

– Ultramarine will be an operating base for unprecedented polar adventures. The new boat, in the hands of the most experienced team in the expedition industry, will enable guests to go deeper into polar areas than ever before, while being just as respectful of nature as before, which has always been the main guideline of the American company – the press release says.


He adds that the guests will be able to experience off-boat adventures as well, and when they return to the boat after a day spent in polar explorations, they will be able to rest and relax in a modern, top-quality space, SeeBiz reports.

The press release says that the company Quark Expeditions, headquartered in Washington, is a member of the Travelopia Group, which gathers a wide range of world companies which specialize in adventure travel.
