This pertains to two projects – the first entails the raising of the height of seven bridges in the municipality of Paracin, which will reduce the risk of flooding, and the upgrade of the early warning system in Uzice, whereas the second project will upgrade the early warning system in the municipalities within the West Morava river basin.
The director of the Office for Public Investment Management, Marko Blagojevic, reminded of the catastrophic floods in May 2014 and emphasized that Switzerland was one of the first countries to send financial help to Serbia, the government says on its website.
Priska Depnering, Deputy Head of Cooperation at the Swiss Cooperation Office in the Republic of Serbia, said that she was satisfied with the way the donated funds had been implemented and the excellent cooperation between the institutions talking part in the realization of the said projects.
Darko Milutin, representative of the World Bank's Serbian Office, pointed out that the Swiss financial support had contributed to Serbia developing institutional capacities and getting a financial instrument for addressing the consequences of natural disasters.
The total Swiss donation amounted to CHF 7.5 million, that is, EUR 6.7 million.
