Contest for preliminary design for multi-purpose Expo center in Niska Spa to be opened

The office for local economic development and projects will open a contest for the preliminary design for the multi-purpose Expo center in the Lozni Kalem

After the best preliminary design is selected, there will be more details about the future look and features of this facility.

The office for local economic development and projects (KLERP) says that the preparations for an urban planning-architectural contest for a preliminary design for the multifunctional expo center are in progress. T he funds for the preparation of the project-technical documentation have been set aside from the budget of the City of Nis and amount to EUR 40,600, whereas EUR 30,000 is provided by the EU through the EU PRO program.The Office applied for these funds on behalf of the City of Nis.

What is known is that the center would be built in the Lozni Kalem location, near Niska Spa on the area of 4 ha. The location is owned by the City of Nis and the planning documents envisage the construction of one such facility.

the plan is for the facility to have at least 13,500 m2, of which the exhibition space would take up at least 8,100 m2

The complex which will be built in the Lozni Kalem location should provide support to the economic development of the city through new features which will enable the organization of the kind of events that Nis has not been able to organize properly so far and which therefore often take place in unsuitable facilities. The expo center should also enable the organization of various congress and fair events and conferences, both national and international, said KLERP.

The complex will feature a congress section and a fair section and we believe that it will contribute to the development of tourism in Niska Spa and the city on the whole.

– We believe that it will attract new investments in tourism and hotel construction, but also boost the development of the economy of Nis and the region through creating the conditions for an adequate presentation, which will contribute to the development of new markets. We expect to get representative, unique and original designs at the contest, KLERP added.

After the preparation of the preliminary design and the project-technical documentation, the City of Nis will commence the next phase, which entails finding sources of finance and construction.
