Resavica to get two new machines for underground exploitation after 30 years – Commodity credit of EUR 10 million for renewing equipment planned

Two new machines will be introduced to the underground exploitation system in Resavica mines for the first time after 30 years. This was announced by the company’s director, Marko Vukovic, who added that the equipment in the mines was quite old.

– Due to this, we are negotiating with the ministry and a Czech bank about a commodity credit of EUR 10 million in order to increase the safety, the production volume and the profit – Vukovic said.

He reminded that an agreement on the procurement of the two machines had been signed not long before with partners from Slovenia.

He also pointed out that there’s always a need for new miners.

– After this round of the social program, we will have 3,500 employees. We expect 217 people to leave now. When new jobs are created, we give an opportunity to the young, so that they would not move out of the areas where municipalities are supported by mines and miners.

He noted that, in any case, Resavica couldn’t make it without the state’s help and that Chinese investors were interested in the mines.
