Tourism development - design of land-utilization plans for Vlasina lake

(Vlasina lake)
Municipality of Surdulica has obtained 8m RSD from the Government of Serbia for the design of four land-utilization plans for the area around the Vlasina lake, which will enable development of that tourist destination.
The Mayor of Surdulica, Novica Tončev, said that those land-utilization plans would enable legalization of illegally built facilities around the Vlasina lake, prevention of illegal construction in the future, and provision of funds for development of the Vlasina lake.
- All the money that we obtain from legalization of the illegally built facilities will be invested in construction of infrastructure, so that we will be able to bring potential investors to completely organized and equipped place - said Tončev.
Tončev added that the feasibility study had been done for construction of the sewerage ring around the Vlasina lake with the waste water treatment unit, of which construction would cost 20m EUR.
- We already have potential investors for that project, but the Government of Serbia is to provide 20% of the funds - said Tončev.
According to his words, the works on organization of the Vlasina lake should start in spring 2010.
- The Vlasina lake is the largest water that Serbia has, and it represents an engine for development of the Surdulica municipality. We expect large number of people to get jobs here - said Tončev.
He added that the preparations for construction of mini hydroelectric power plants and windmills on the Vlasina lake, as alternative and environment-friendly sources of energy, were in progress.
