Credit for building of sewer system on Danube's left coast in Belgrade approved

Deputy Mayor of Belgrade Goran Vesic stated on Wednesday, May 15, on TV Studio B, that the management of the European Investment Bank (EIB) had approved a loan of EUR 35 million for the building of a sewer system on the left coast of the Danube in Belgrade.

– I am proud that I can announce this great piece of new to the citizens of Belgrade who live on the left coast of the Danube – Vesic said and added that the decision was the result of the efforts and the negotiations which took nearly a year, Beoinfo reports.

– The European Investment Bank approved a EUR 35 million credit to Belgrade today, May 15, and the city of Belgrade will provide an additional EUR 12.93 million. We have already set aside EUR 4.2 million within this year's budget from the part belonging to the city, whereas EUR 8.73 million will be secured next year. I want to emphasize that the EIB has also secured a grant of EUR 1.1 million for the City of Belgrade as technical aid in preparing and executing the sewer system project. The agreement on technical aid will be signed in early June, so that the engineering design could start being prepared immediately – the deputy mayor said.

Goran Vesic said that he believed that the construction of the sewer system on the left coast of the Danube could begin in the first half of 2020.
