Production of diesel "punto" commenced in Kragujevac

Production of "punto classic multi jet" automobile with diesel engine of 1,300 ccm in factory "Fiat automobili Srbija" in Kragujevac started on July 10th.

The Minister of Economy of Serbia, Mlađan Dinkić, said that the factory in Kragujevac would be producing 200 "punto" vehicles per day starting September 1st, which means that 50,000 automobiles will be produced on annual basis.

Dinkić said that "Fiat" would invest in production of brand new model in autumn, of which trial production would commence at the end of year 2010.

According to his words, "Fiat" will make the decision within the next two months which new model will be produced in Kragujevac.

Dinkić announced that that would be followed by complete reconstruction of the factory, as well as the whole complex, and preparations for production, while Fiat's investments in Kragujevac-based factory in 2009 and 2010 would reach the amount of 700m EUR.

According to Dinkić's words, there are two options for production of new model.

He explained that, if "Fiat" decided for the model of B class, 140,000 vehicles would be produced per year, and if the chosen model was of A class, 250,000 such vehicles would be produced, and he expressed expectation that the Italian manufacturer would choose the model of A class.

The price of punto with diesel engine is 10,499 EUR. The loans that will be granted for procurement of these vehicles will have the fixed interest rate of 4.5%, while the repayment period will amount to maximum 7 years.

Monthly installment for punto with diesel engine and air-conditioning system, of which price is 10,499 EUR, amounts to 146 EUR without discount, that is, 132 EUR with discount.
