Production of diesel punto starts today in Kragujevac

Production of "punto classic multi jet" automobile, with diesel engine of 1,300 ccm, will start today (July 10, 2009) in the automobile factory in Kragujevac.

According to the announcement, company "Fiat automobili Srbija" will be producing diesel punto automobiles with two versions of equipment, and they will be named "dynamic" and "emotion".

Production of "punto" with diesel engine will be started in the presence of the Minister of Economy and Regional Development, Mlađan Dinkić, the Minister for National Investment Plan, Verica Kalanović, the Ambassador of Italy to Belgrade, Armando Varicchio, and the officials of local administration.

People from the Kragujevac-based factory told Beta agency that the Manager of International Affairs of "Fiat" factory in Torino, Silverio Bonfiglioli, would visit the factory in Serbia on the occasion of the commencement of production of "diesel punto" in Kragujevac.

The managers of "Fiat" are expected to present the plan for production of "punto diesel" vehicles and the amount of investments that are necessary for equipping of the line for production of "diesel punto" in Kragujevac.

Since the end of March 2009, when the production of "punto classic" commenced, total of 4,780 vehicles have been assembled in Kragujevac.

Joint venture "Fiat automobili Srbija" was founded in October 2008.
