Governor Jorgovanka Tabakovic told Tanjug that the decision was to come into effect on the eight day from being published in the Official Gazette.
All banks and other financial institutions will thereby be able to offer their clients to pay their bills or carry out other related activities through a video link, using their computer or mobile phone.
Tabakovic points out that all security measures are being implemented and that the data citizens give banks otherwise are used, in line with the Law on Personal Data Protection.
Tabakovic points out that banks and other financial institutions are under no obligation to use this service.
Payment by phone, tablet, Skype or any other way requires no new technical solutions nor will it cost banks money, Tabakovic adds.
Of the countries in this part of Europe, according to the NBS, only Slovenia and Hungary have regulated this kind of process.
Those who opt for the video identification system will also oblige to give written consent to have the conversation recorded.
Financial institutions will need to meet organizational, staff and technical requirements.
A list of financial institutions which meet the requirements will be available at the NBS’ website.
