Cable factory Jagodina to be left by 540 workers


- Cable industry in Jagodina will be left by another 540 workers thanks to the Government of Serbia's stimulus programme - said Dragan Rajić, the President of the Independent trade union of that company.
- Required 140m RSD have arrived, the workers are signing contracts on discontinuation of employment, and money will be paid to their checking accounts starting as soon as Wednesday - said Rajić.
- The workers who are leaving the factory have five or less years until retirement and they decided to leave the company, with the Government's stimulus social programme, at the end of November 2008 - Rajić explained.
- Most of them have chosen the option to get six average gross salaries in Serbia and 60% of gross monthly salary in the country until retirement - he added.
Those who have chosen this type of social programme will receive about 250,000 RSD and about 32,000 RSD every month until the retirement, but they will have to pay fees for pension and health insurance by themselves.
According to the data provided by the Independent trade union, 650 out of 2,800 employees in the Cable industry had less than five years until retirement.
The Privatization Agency has announced the fourth tender for sale of the Cable industry: 99.35% of public capital is now offered for sale at the price of 28.860m EUR. The deadline for submission of written requests for procurement of tender dossier expires on July 6th.
