Serbian Energy and Mining Minister Aleksandar Antic said on Thursday, February 7, that Serbia had serious plans for the consolidation of the Public Enterprise for Underground Coal Exploitation Resavica. As he pointed out, each mine is analyzed individually with experts of the World Bank.

At the session of the Committee on the Economy, Regional Development, Trade, Tourism and Energy of the National Assembly of Serbia, Antic said that Serbia had no secret subsidies for coal and that the only subsidy was the one provided from the state budget for the operations of Resavica, in the amount of RSD 4.47 billion.

He added that the subsidy was primarily down to the difficult economic position of the company and its operations in undeveloped areas in which mining is the only economic activities.

– We have serious plans for the consolidation of the company and we are analyzing each mine individually together with an expert team of the World Bank – Antic said at the session, during which the annual report of the Energy Community Secretariat on the progress of Serbia in complying with energy regulations was presented.
