New industrial zone to be built in Prokuplje

A new industrial zone, Hisar, will be built in Prokuplje, taking up 16 hectares, for which the Government of the Republic of Serbia has set aside close to RSD 490 million. The detailed regulation plan is up for public review and subject to suggestions for the next month.

At the Urban Planning Directorate in Prokuplje, expert associates provide citizens with the basic information about the presented plans.

– There’s enough interest, so we can see what people think, and they believe that the zone might make the whole area increase in importance – says Zivorad Manic, the spatial planner at the Prokuplje’s PE for development and building.

The industrial zone will take up 16 hectares, the ownership of which has been transferred from the Republic of Serbia to the Municipality of Prokuplje by the government. After the plan is adopted, the preparation of the project-technical documentation and the development of the zone will follow.

– This will enable the economic revival of Prokuplje, the creation of new jobs and the reduction of unemployment in Prokuplje and the entire Toplica Distric – points out Maja Basic, a Prokuplje town official.

The advantage of the new business zone is that it will be located in the vicinity of the Nis-Pristina highway. The Government of Serbia has provided close to RSD 490 million for its construction.
