The Secretariat of the Energy Community should give its opinion on the TurkStream project, the second leg of which should pass through Serbia, by the end of this week, it was confirmed for Politika by this secretariat, headquartered in Vienna.

The Energy Agency of the Republic of Serbia (AERS) asked for an exception to the access of the third party to the future gas pipeline, which will pass through Serbia and connect to the Bulgarian and the Hungarian national systems.

At the time, the AERS Council approved the exemption of Gastrans, the company which will build this gas pipeline, from the obligation of the implementation of regulated prices and from the obligation of the ownership separation of the activities of production and supply, proscribed by the Law on Energy, the daily writes.

When asked whether the decision could be negative, since the EU and the USA are trying to stop the construction of NordStream 2, which would also transport Russian gas, the Energy Community says for Politika that the opinion will take into consideration the impact of the project of the gas market in Serbia and the regional gas market, the security of the supply and the question of whether the project requires the exemption from EU regulations.

As said, the opinion will be published on the website of the Energy Community.
