This doesn’t mean a few extra minutes for dozing off in front of one’s computer, but a genuine sleeping room.
The decision comes in response to a recent survey which shows that employees’ sleepiness costs Japan’s economy USD 138 billion a year, Novac.hr reports.
Employers and the Japanese Ministry of Health therefore propose for each employee to get at least half an hour’s time for sleeping in the early afternoon.
Nextbeat, a Japanese IT company has already provided its employees with two “strategic sleeping rooms”, as they call them.
The rooms are equipped with sofas and devices that block out noise, whereas mobile phones, tablets and laptops are banned.
