Local Economic Development Office opened in Novi Pazar

The Local Economic Development Department was opened in Novi Pazar on March
27th, thanks to the assistance of the US Agency for International
Development (USAID), with the aim of easier overcoming of the consequences of
the economic crisis.
The Mayor of Novi Pazar, Mirsad Đerlek, said to the press that that Department,
based on the long-time entrepreneurial tradition of the city, would strive to
stimulate the citizens to use their potentials to save existing jobs and create
new ones.
- The Office will also deal with the strict saving measures, and it will take
care of the young people. Realization of all these programmes would not be
possible without the cooperation with the representatives of MEGA project, who
provide us with the consulting, technical and educational assistance – said Đerlek.
He added that Novi Pazar would be granted about 100,000 USD from USAID MEGA
project for organization of pedestrian zone.
The Director of USAID’s Mission, Mike Harvey, said that the city administration
had the opportunity to attract new investments by opening the Local Economic
Development Department, as well as to maintain the current level of business.
- That Office represents the bridge between the city administration and business sector, as well as the way of communication with international community and investors for the sake of creation of better business environment – said Harvey.
