Regulation of tax debts inherited by privatized companies to be taken in consideration soon - possible conversion of debt into company's capital

(Mlađan Dinkić)
The Deputy Prime Minister of Serbia
and the Minister of Economy, Mlađan Dinkić, said that the Government was
preparing the model for resolving of the problems of mutual debts in Serbian
economy sector.
Pointing out that that will be one of the new measures
that will be introduced for alleviation of negative effects of the global
economic crisis, Dinkić also announced that the regulation of the tax debts
inherited by the privatized companies would be taken in consideration.
- The privatized companies that inherited the debts of public companies are not able to pay them at the moment. My suggestion is that we should convert these debts into the company's capital, and that it should be made possible for the owner or somebody else to purchase that share later - said Mlađan Dinkić.
At last night's (March 4, 2009) panel-discussion at the Business Forum on Kopaonik mountain, Dinkić said that the state would have to "participate in the capital" of private companies in the situations when the treatment of old tax debts was the issue or when the private owner asked the state to do that.
