Opening of Nis based office for local economic development on February, 25th


Office for local economic development whose priority task will be support to the companies for keeping working places, will be opened tomorrow (February, 25th, 2009) in Nis.
The openning of this kind of office is a part of USAID's program, and it will be 26th office in Serbia which will be opened with the support of this American organization.
The purpose of the offices for local economic development is, according to USAID, to be the engine of economic growth and to be a support to the city and municipality managements in planning and conduction of the strategy of local economic development.
- The most challenging task of Nis based office will probably be offering of help to the companies to keep the working places and position them for the future success, once the circumstances get better, as it stands in the announcement.
The program of encouragement of the economic development of municipalities has helped many Serbian municipalities to attract more than 400 million euros of investments and in this way to open more than 7.300 working places in 270 companies.
Tomorrow at 1:00 PM at the openning of Nis based office, following persons will be present - Minister of economy and regional development, Mladjan Dinkic, representative of Danish Ministry of foreign affairs, Jorgen Andersen, Director for economic development of USAID, James Stain, Director of USAID's Program of econouragement of economic development of municipalities, Peter Apstain, and Coordinator of the Danish Program of local economic development for the Balkans, Karsten Lund.
