Local and foreign drivers do not pay the same toll at certain booths, with the price sometimes being lower for foreigners. The Roads of Serbia explains this as the adjustment of tolls in line with the official middle exchange rate of the euro. This harmonization is done when the euro middle exchange rate either increases of drops by 3%, that is, if it exceeds RSD 124.0036 or goes below RSD 116.7800

In fact, the toll for vehicles with foreign license plates is calculated in line with the NBS middle exchange rate of November 13, 2014.

What happens is that, for example, drivers with Serbian plates pay RSD 510 on the Belgrade-Cuprija section, whereas foreigners pay four euros, which at the euro exchange rate of RSD 118.06 amounts to RSD 474.4. The same happens at the Vodanj booth, where a trip from Belgrade costs RSD 140, whereas foreigners pay one euro, which equals RSD 118.06.

The opposite happens as well. The toll booth on the Belgrade-Mali Pozarevac route is RSD 100 for local drivers, whereas foreigners pay one euro.

The Roads of Serbia says for Tanjug that the toll is calculated in the same way for both local and foreign drivers, based on three parameters – price per kilometer, the distance traveled and the vehicle category. They also remind that the company prepares the price list with approval of the Government of Serbia.

The Roads of Serbia also announced that, beginning with July 15, the recharging of the electronic toll collection devices can be done exclusively on clearly marked traffic routes, in the minimum amount of RSD 2,000, without the right to a discount. They note that special sales points for this purpose cannot be set up in toll booth zones for safety reasons, that is, due to the ban on pedestrian movement.

All users of electronic toll collection can recharge their devices at 148 sales points of the Roads of Serbia and authorized distributors present along all highway sections, at border crossings and in larger towns in the Republic of Serbia.
