Issuing of authorizations for exchange operations from January 1, 2019, at NBS

The National Bank of Serbia (NBS) will take over the field of competence of the Tax Administration pertaining to issuing and revoking authorizations for exchange operations and the control of exchange and foreign exchange operations on January 1, 2019, as envisaged by the amendments to the Law on the NBS, adopted by the National Assembly of Serbia on Friday, June 8, 2018.

The NBS said that it would take over around 60 employees performing those activities at the Tax Administration on January 1, 2019.

The amendments to the Law on the NBS also envisage the closing of the Financial Institution Supervision Administration as a special unit within the National Bank, whereby the employees would continue doing the job they currently do.
