Minister Vujovic resigns - Sinisa Mali to be nominated as the new Finance Minister

(Dusan Vujovic) Serbian Finance Minister Dusan Vujovic resigned his post citing personal reasons.
Vujovic decided to leave his post in the Ministry of Finance due to health issues. Since media in Belgrade previously reported this news, he stated that four years that he occupied the position were time enough for one to prove oneself in the office.
Vujovic performed the function of Minister of Economy from April 27 to August 4 2014. He was subsequently appointed Minister of Finance taking over for Lazar Krstic and he stayed in this post until August 2016. He was also in office from August 2016 till June 2017 and in the latest Government convocation.
He graduated, received his Master`s degree and PhD at the Faculty of Economics in Belgrade. He did his post-doctoral studies at the University of California, Berkeley.
He worked as an assistant professor at the Institute of International Politics and Economics in Belgrade and as an assistant at the Belgrade Faculty of Economics and then as an assistant professor and associate professor at this faculty.
He was a long-time associate of the World Bank. He led the program of advanced training of the staff of ministries of economy of countries in transition of Eastern and Southern Europe, the former Soviet Union, China and Vietnam.
He worked as representative of Serbia and Montenegro in the World Bank’s Board of Governors, led a Bank’s program in Ukraine and was the Bank’s chief economist for Europe and Central Asia.
Since 2011, he has worked as a consultant of the World Bank and USAID in the field of innovation, budget reform and public sector reform.
GlobalMarkets newspaper elected Vujovic as the Finance Minister of the year in Central and Eastern Europe for the year 2017. According to the magazine fiscal consolidation helped stop the trend of growing public debt, which is currently on the decrease while after 10 years, in 2016 Serbia had budget sufficit before taking on the previous responsibilities.
As media in Belgrade report Vujovic should continue his career in America and RTS confirms that Sinisa Mali, who was the mayor of Belgrade for the past four years, will be nominated as the new Finance Minister.
