Extraordinary inspection control of fruit and vegetable importers to begin

The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management announced that it had ordered inspection services to perform extraordinary control of all importers of fruit and vegetables to the end of removing even the slightest irregularities regarding the declaration of products imported to the Republic of Serbia.

As said, the aim of the ministry is to, at the same time, through intensifying the control, prevent any kind of attempt to disturb the public as regards the health safety of agricultural products in the Serbian market.

– In the absolute sense, the most important question is the health safety of food in our country, and we remind once again that, before any instance of importing is approved, detailed laboratory analyses are carried out, which have shown in the case of the current issue regarding tomato declarations that the products are fully safe. Still, determining the responsibility for mistakes made in the text of the declaration itself is the subject of the activities of the competent services of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management, which have initiated procedures against the responsible parties in the process in line with their competence – the press release says.

In case the responsibility is confirmed, all those who violated the regulations will be sanctioned, it is added.
