From Sabac to Loznica by train in 45 minutes from late August – Construction of high-speed road between the two towns to begin in 2019

The reconstruction of the Sabac-Loznica-Brasina railway began on March 28, and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Construction Zorana Mihajlovic announced that the works would be completed by the end of August and that passenger rail traffic between Sabac and Loznica would be re-established.

Mihajlovic said that, thanks to the reconstruction, the railway traffic on the route would be relaunched on September 1, after 13 years.

The works entail the reconstruction of the 24 kilometers of the railroad between Sabac and Brasina, on the Petlovaca-Lesnica and Loznica-Gornja Koviljaca sections.

The removal of the parallel tracks and the disassembling and the welding of railway track sections have begun, and the works are being carried out by ZGOP and Bauwesen and are worth RSD 335 million.

The investment will amount to a total of RSD 367 million, as another 20 million will be invested in the development of the railway station building in Loznica, whereas RSD 12 million will be invested in the lighting at the railway station platform in Brasina.

The deadline for the completion of the works is 150 days, that is, late August 2018.

The construction of the Sabac-Loznica high-speed road, 55 kilometers long, will begin next year, and the road will open for traffic by the end of 2020, Mihajlovic announced.

She said that the entire project-technical documentation for the construction of the high-speed road from Sabac to Loznica (with two lanes in each direction) would have to be completed in 2018.

– This is being prepared in cooperation with the CIP Institute of Transportation and we are looking to solve certain problems related to expropriation – Mihajlovic said.
