"Telekom Srbije" requires 160m EUR to finish digitalization of fixed telephony

Company "Telekom Srbije" needs another 160m EUR to finish digitalization of fixed telephony.
Although the former Director General, Draško Petrović, announced 3.5 years ago that the digitalization in Belgrade would be finished prior to mid-2006 and digitalization in Serbia prior to end of year 2007, people in "Telekom" claim that the deadlines were not included in the official strategy of that company.
People in "Telekom" explain that the digitalization should be finished as soon as possible, but they also point out that it is a complex process and, therefore, it is not possible to specify the exact date when the job will be finished.
According to the data provided by "Telekom", 95% of main phone exchanges in Serbia and 94.14% of phone exchange in Belgrade have already been digitalized.
"Telekom Srbija" will introduce over 140,000 new fixed phone connections prior to the end of the year, so that the level of digitalization in Serbia will reach 96%.
