Ethan Hawke to play Nikola Tesla in new biopic

After Nicholas Hoult, who portrayed the character of the Serbian scientist in The Current War, and David Bowie, who played Tesla in The Prestige, the famous inventor will once again be portrayed on the big screen, this time by Ethan Hawke.

The project simply called Tesla will be offered to investors at the European Film Market, which started this week in Berlin, Hollywood Reporter writes.

Tesla would also see Hawke reunited with writer-director Michael Almereyda, with whom he worked on both Hamlet and Cymbeline.

The script was written by Almereyda, and the biopic will chronicle the life and times of the famed Serbia-born inventor, including his creation of the AC motor and his fierce rivalry with Thomas Edison.

Preparations should begin in spring, and the filming should start soon afterwards in the northern part of the New York State.
