MIHAJLOVIC: Rail connection between Obrenovac and Surcin an option

(Zorana Mihajlovic) Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Zorana Mihajlovic announced on February 5 that an analysis as to whether Obrenovac could be linked to Surcin, the location of the Belgrade Airport, by rail, would be performed.

During her visit to the municipality of Obrenovac, she reminded that the railway was an efficient means of transport and that airports throughout the world provided an option for passengers to be transported to urban areas by rail.

The minister also said that the bridge on the Sava on the Surcin-Obrenovac road was 40% complete and announced that the reconstruction of the Sabac road from Skela to Usce near Obrenovac, 4.2 kilometers long, will be completed in March.

Over EUR 2 million has been invested in the road infrastructure in the territory of the municipality of Obrenovac in the past few years, she said and added that everything was being done in agreement with the local self-government.

The minister also reminded that Obrenovac was the first one to offer a developed location for the construction of apartments for the employees at security services and added that the location featured the necessary infrastructure and that it therefore didn't require additional expenditures. She said that the construction would start in 2019.
