Construction of substation in Ub begins – EPS to invest over EUR 2 million

Elektroprivreda Srbije (EPS) started building a new substation in Ub today and will invest over EUR 2 million in its construction.

The works should be completed in a year and a half.

The acting director of EPS, Milorad Grcic, said on this occasion that the current substation was working “above its maximum capacity, causing problems for consumers, especially big ones like factories”.

– According to estimates, the construction of this substation will solve these issues for the citizens of Ub over the next 20 years in terms of power supply and will also attract new investors and enable factories to be built and neighborhoods to be expanded – Grcic said.

As he added, it is necessary to create conditions for the construction of infrastructure in Serbia, and one of the conditions is the power supply network.

– It's not enough for us to just produce the required annual amount of energy, but to also improve, upgrade and expand the distribution network – Grcic said.

He added that, with the construction of new substations and power lines, the losses would be reduced as well.

The president of the Municipality of Ub, Darko Glisic, said that the existing capacity did not meet the needs for electricity in the municipality, as the number of citizens and consumers had been growing in the preceding years.

– The construction of this substation is overdue and will enable us to satisfy the needs of the business sector and the citizens – Glisic said.
