Passenger rail traffic between Novi Sad and Zrenjanin to be established on September 1, 2018

Regular passenger rail traffic between Novi Sad and Zrenjanin should be established on September 1, 2018.

It has been impossible to travel by trail from Novi Sad to Zrenjanin for 12 years now, but new Russian diesel trains might start transporting passengers on this route starting this autumn.

In order for the two biggest cities of Backa and Banat to be connected this way, the 113-km railway section Pancevo-Orlovat-Novi Sad needs to be repaired first. As announced earlier, the works should be completed by June 30.

This will also make for a better connection between Novi Sad and Timisoara, the two cities which share the title of the European Capital of Culture.
