Serbian Railways to get track geometry car – Agreement with Russian company TVEMA worth EUR 2.2 million signed

Infrastructure of the Serbian Railways and the Russian company TVEMA signed an agreement on the purchase of a track geometry car for technical supervision on Serbian railways, worth EUR 2.22 million, on December 28, 2017.

The agreement was signed by Director General of Infrastructure of the Serbian Railways, Miroljub Jevtic, and Deputy General Director of TVEMA, Maksim Tarabrin, and the funds have been provided from the loan of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, says the press release by Infrastructure.

The delivery deadline period is sixteen months.

This rail vehicle tracks and records all the technical parameters of a railway track, and the information gathered this way is used to determine the state of the railway, project the speeds and define all other elements important to the engineering maintenance of the infrastructure.

The track geometry car produced by the Russian company is 18 meters long and features two measuring systems, while also allowing for 15 additional functions to be installed. The company exports its equipment to 38 countries across the globe. Infrastructure of the Serbian Railways had only one such rail car so far, purchased nearly four decades ago and currently out of commission due to a defect.

In addition to the new track geometry car, five ballast tampers and five draisines will be purchased from the loan of the EBRD, and the procurement procedures are in progress.
