By the end of the year, the Government of Serbia will sign an agreement on a loan worth around EUR 250 million for moving the railway out of downtown Nis and the modernization and electrification of the railway from Nis to Dimitrovgrad with the European Investment Bank, Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Zorana Mihajlovic announced.

– We promised the process of expropriation last year, which has started now. We promised that we would find a way to finance this and we have. This, then, is a huge, important project, if we want to develop Nis further – the minister said.

Let us remind that, as it was announced previously, the construction of the railway bypass route around Nis should begin in early 2019, whereas the moving of the railway which currently passes through the city is planned for 2022.
