Trade exchange between Serbia and Austria can exceed EUR 1,2 billion in 2017

Nada Knezevic, the head of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce representatives in Austria, said on Wednesday (November 22, 2017) that trade exchange between Serbia and Austria could exceed EUR 1.2 billion this year.

She told to reporters in Vienna that in the first six months this year, export growth from Serbia to Austria was 19.8%, as well as that growth of exports from Austria to Serbia was 10.8%.

- During 2016, Austria exported over EUR 615 million in goods to Serbia in while Serbia exported slightly more than EUR 420 m. Trade exchange was somewhere around EUR 1.36 billion - Nada Knezevic said during a meeting with journalists that was organized before the Vienna Ball.

She pointed out that trade exchange between Serbia and Austria over the past six years has been steadily increasing, reminding that in 2016, for the first time in history of trade relations, it has exceeded a billion euros.

According to her, two countries mostly exchange goods in metal sector, such as vehicles or construction equipment, and added that Austria has invested heavily in previous years in Serbia.

- We see stronger interest (for investing in Serbia) of Austrian middle, so-called family firms. According to their categorization, a medium enterprise means a company that has between 50 and 250 employees and a turnover of more than 250 million euros. This is something new and where a better result could be achieved - Nada Knezevic said.

President of the Austrian Chamber of Commerce Kristof Macneter said Austria is the largest investor in Serbia with EUR 2 billion in investments.
