The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is planning to reinitiate the process of issuing dinar-denominated bonds, although it doesn't find it easy to market those dinars, which is why crediting in dinars needs to be enhanced, the director of the Financial Sector at the EBRD, Aleksandra Vukosavljevic, stated today.

– We have entered the process of issuing bonds in order to get to dinars and to start crediting in dinars. However, no one wants to take dinars – Vukosavljevic said at the 16th International Conference of the Belgrade Stock Exchange.

The first emission of dinar-denominated bonds of the EBRD, as she says, was of relatively modest volume, but there were enough investors.

Commenting on the development of the capital market, Vukosavljevic pointed out that Serbia had macroeconomic stability like it hadn't had for years, that the inflation was low and that the currency was rather stable, all of which are requirements for the development of the capital market.

She pointed to the need for educating public administration employees, especially locally, as “there are few people familiar with the capital market”.

– This is a favorable moment we can use and certain effects will be felt – Vukosavljevic concluded.
