Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications of Serbia Rasim Ljajic defined the new Draft Agreement on Free Trade between Turkey and Serbia with Minister of Economy of Turkey Nihat Zeybekci in Ankara on Saturday, September 30, 2017. The agreement should be signed on the occasion of the visit of the president of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, to Serbia on October 10-11.

The new Draft Agreement envisages, for the first time, the duty-free export of 5,000 tons of beef from Serbia to Turkey a year, Ljajic’s cabinet reported.

Serbian producers will also be able to export defined quotas of raw and refined sunflower oil, sunflower seeds and certain types of baking products to the market of Turkey without paying for the customs duty.

The agreement also doubles the duty-free quotas for export of certain kinds of frozen vegetables and prunes from Serbia to Turkey.

On the other hand, Serbia has enabled the duty-free import of defined quotas of pomegranates, strawberries, eggplants, zucchinis, table grapes and raisins from Turkey, and quotas have also been increased for certain food products already under the free trade agreement between the two countries.

For the first time, the agreement also defines a free trade of services (finance, transport, telecommunications, co-production etc.), which will contribute to a great extent to an enhancement of the investment climate and more frequent arrivals of Turkish investors to Serbia, while at the same time open a space for Serbian economy in the Turkish service market, the press release says.
