The section of the Ipsilon arm at Corridor 10 at Subotica, from Sombor to Backa Topola road, 5 km long, was released today into traffic. The opening was attended by the minister of construction, transport and infrastructure Zorana Mihajlović, who announced that objective of the Government of Serbia is to complete entire Ipsilon arm of 24 km in 2019.

- We completed 6.5 kilometers of road in 10 months, and the objective is that in 2019 we built entire Ipsilon arm, i.e. a roundabout around Subotica which will connect the border crossings Horgos and Kelebija and will contribute to thousands of trucks passing daily through the city to be diverted to new road – Mihajlovic said, adding that with the end of the Ipsilon arm, industrial zone in Subotica will be directly connected with Corridor 10.

- We cannot talk about development of Subotica, Vojvodina and Serbia if we do not have infrastructure and the Ministry I run will work on it next year - to connect the whole Serbia with highways, regional roads and reconstructed local roads – Mihajlovic concluded.

Contractor of works on this section is a consortium of companies headed by Subotica-based Vojput and the value of works is RSD 337,7 m with VAT.

Mihajlovic reminded that the part of the Ipsilon arm was released for traffic in March this year, so that in 10 months 6.5 km were put into traffic.Activities on the construction of the bypass have been launched nearly 30 years ago.
