UberBoat is known worldwide for its short-term projects in big cities, but now it is to be launched as a product for the first time, as a long-term service at the Croatian coast. Uber believes that this will turn Croatia into a leader of the development of urban mobility on land and sea.
Uber’s app which connects passengers with car drivers has been active in Croatia since October 2015, and the number of users and drivers is constantly growing despite numerous problems with taxi drivers and inspection services. Uber will thereby expand its offer in Croatia this summer.
As announced earlier by the general manager of Uber for Southeast Europe, Davor Tremac, the plan is to use speedboats of various capacities, which will be more available than the existing taxi-boats, and the prices will vary according to the number of passengers.
– Although the prices are to be formed only once the app has been launched, they won’t be too different from the prices in taxi-boats. A ride from, say, Split to Hvar, would cost EUR 40-50 per person – he said.
