In terms of usage of IPA funds, Serbia is among the most successful countries undergoing the process of European integration, says minister without portfolio at the Government of Serbia in charge of European integration, Jadranka Joksimovic.

Joksimovic pointed out for the European Western Balkans portal that the usage of funds within the IPA programs up till that point was very high, amounting to an average of 94%.

She reminded that Serbia was the first state in the region to establish a National Investment Council and a unified database of infrastructural projects in order to utilize the development funds as efficiently as possible.

Regardless of this, Serbia, as well as other countries, such as Slovenia, Hungary and Slovakia, is facing challenges, since it takes time to fully utilize the available funds. Joksimovic also pointed out that quality, well-trained professionals making agreements on EU funds and managing EU projects were needed, as reported by the website of the Government of Serbia.
