Six Chinese companies interested in processing meat from Serbia – Export agreement in May

Minister of Agriculture Branislav Nedimovic announced on Sunday, March 12, that an agreement would be signed in May in China, enabling the export of meat from Serbia to that market, as well as that six Chinese companies were interested in processing meat from Serbia.

– We have three certified facilities for the export of beef and lamb to China. I will go over to China in May to sign an agreement with the state Food and Drug Administration – Nedimovic said to the press in Lucani.

The agreement will create conditions for the meet produced in Serbia to be exported to China, Nedimovic emphasized.

He said that Serbia had certificates for the processing industry and that bigger subsidies for the raising of sheep and cattle were given for that reason.

– We want to increase our livestock count – Nedimovic said.

He said that Serbia wanted to expand its range of products beyond lamb and beef to milk and dairy products, as well as to open new possibilities of fruit and vegetable export.

He said that the biggest Italian beef processing company was interested and that it would arrive to Serbia in late March.

– They are interested in raising a meat packing factory in Serbia and the construction of three meat collection points. They plan to develop a cow-calf system in central Serbia – Nedimovic said.

The minister added that it was the only way for the Italians to secure sufficient amounts, as they traded with 70 countries, as well as that the agreement Serbia would sign with China and the free trade agreement with Russia were important to them for that reason.
