Serbia is interested in the joint realization of the project of construction of a Belgrade-Sarajevo motorway with B&H, stated Deputy Prime Minister of Serbia, Zorana Mihajlovic, on December 13 in Sarajevo, and added that the forming of a joint working group for the activation of the project had been agreed with the Council of Ministers of B&H.

Following her meeting with Minister of Communications and Transport at the Council of Ministers of B&H, Ismir Jusko, Mihajlovic said that Serbia was primarily interested in building the section from Pozega to Visegrad.

– We wish to build a high-speed Belgrade-Sarajevo road. We will form a joint working group between our two ministries, which will deal with the preparation of the project-technical documentation, but also with the sources of finance – she said and added that the project documentation might be completed the next year.

The motorway from Pozega to Visegrad would be 100 km long, of which 60 km would be located in Serbia, and 40 km in B&H.

Talking about the route passing through Serbia, she pointed out that the construction of the highway from Ljig to Preljina had been completed, and that the entire span from Obrenovac to Preljina would be completed before the end of 2017, as well as that the construction of the Preljina-Pozega section was planned.

– We will complete the highway to Pozega and we are interested in the section from Pozega to Visegrad, which would be a part of the Belgrade-Sarajevo motorway. Regarding the Bosnian side, it remains to be discussed where the route would pass through B&H – Mihajlovic said and reminded that the idea about the construction of the Belgrade-Sarajevo motorway had existed for more than 10 years and that the time was right to start realizing it.
