From January 1, 2017, a new customs tariff will be in effect in Serbia. The tariff has been brought in line with the standards of the World Customs Organization and the European Union by the Decree of the Government of Serbia, the Customs Administration reported on December 8.

The decree on harmonizing the nomenclature of the 2017 customs tariff, adopted by the government on November 29, was published on December 7, 2016, in the Official Gazette.

With this decree, the national customs tariff has been brought in line with the Harmonized Commodity Description and Coding System of the World Customs Organization (HS2017 version) and the Combined Nomenclature of the European Union for 2017.

The decree pertains to customs duty rates as well, i.e. the amount of customs duty defined by the Law on Customs Tariff, or by the signed free trade agreements, applied to the harmonized nomenclature, the report says and adds that the new tariff will come into effect on January 1, 2017.
