Along with the current pellet factory in Boljevac, local company Bioenergy Point has started building another such facility, worth around EUR 2 million, but also biomass-fueled power plants, an investment worth an additional EUR 7 million.

– The plan is to increase the production from 60,000 to 80,000 tons a year – says Zoran Drakulic, co-owner of Bioenergy Point, for Novosti.

– This way, our Boljevac factroy will become the biggest factory of its type in the Balkans. Parallel to this, the construction of EUR 7 million worth biomass-fueled power plants will start. Thanks to this facility, we will get an electricity production complex of 2.4 megawatts of power. We will thereby unify the pellet production and significantly reduce production costs.

Drakulic emphasizes that Bioenergy Point, which opened the Boljevac factory ten years ago, had previously exported 90% of its production.

– Nowadays, however, as much as 70% of our production is meant for the local market, whereas the rest is exported. The thing is that people are increasingly more ready to exchange expensive energy sources for sources cheaper and more efficient than fossil fuels, such as pellet, which is produced from renewable energy sources – Drakulic explains.
