Navigation along the Tisa for all ships with lower fees

Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure of Serbia Zorana Mihajlovic has signed today with the Minister for National Development of Hungary Miklos Sestak new agreement on navigation along the Tisa, which will open the river to all ships, but with lower fees.- The agreement is expected to increase transport volume along the Tisa, an increase in overloading in port of Senta, as well as higher revenues from port fees - Mihajlovic said after the signing, her ministry announced.According to the current agreement between Serbia and Hungary, since more than 60 years, the Tisa has been open for navigation only for Serbian and Hungarian vessels, while all the others have to pay high fees.


In such circumstances, the company transporting goods along the river have had no interest in using the Tisa and therefore the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure launched an initiative for concluding a new agreement between the two governments, it was communicated in the statement.
