The Kovin-based mushroom factory Delta Danube, a member of the Indonesian Bawazir Group, currently produces 4.5 tons, and is planning to increase the production to 6 tons of mushrooms a day in a month. They sell fresh mushrooms to stores in Serbia, export frozen ones to Russia, and they are also planning to penetrate the West European market.

– Our plan is to increase the production fourfold in the future – said Sunil Mamgain, the factory’s director.

Delta Danube Kovin opened this March. So far, they have employed 150 workers.

The Indonesian company opened the Kovin facility as they had found it convenient that compost, needed for their operations, was being made in the nearby village of Plocica. They now have forty rooms for the growing of mushrooms. The processing facility has been equipped with the latest machinery.

The Indonesians have invested EUR 3.5 million in the Kovin factory so far, but they are planning to raise another six production units, develop the market and employ more people in the next few years.
