Plan for first three subway lines by November 15 – Belgrade getting two new bridges and two tunnels

Mayor of Belgrade, Sinisa Mali, stated today that the plan for the first three lines of the Belgrade subway would be completed by November 15.

– Belgrade has never been closer to having a subway – Mali said at the business forum of Serbian and Russian businessmen in Belgrade.

According to him, if everything goes according to plan, the construction might start in late 2018.

– This will be a new source of growth for Serbia and Belgrade – Mali estimated and added that the subway would solve the problem of traffic jams and open a new perspective for the city's development.

The mayor of Belgrade also said that the rivers were Belgrade's biggest treasure and emphasized that the Belgrade Waterfront project was being implemented, entailing the construction of two million square meters of residential and office space. He said that the value of the Belgrade Waterfront project was EUR 3.5 billion.

– When it comes to investments in the traffic infrastructure, we will build two new bridges and two tunnels in Belgrade. We will start building a new bridge on the Sava next year and we want to build two tunnels in 2018 which will solve the problem of traffic jams in our city, as well as the bridge across Ada Huja – Mali said and added that there would also be works on the completion of the bypass route around Belgrade.
