At first glance, Allo resembles other messaging apps like Viber and WhatsApp. Users log in with their phone numbers, after which the app scans the contacts searching for people who use it.
In addition to text messages, users can share audio messages, photographs, their location... Allo also features several sticker collections, making conversations livelier. However, none of this is the true reason you should opt for Allo.
The app's main advantage, according to Google, is the AI feature called Smart Replies. The applications tracks your responses in order to suggest your next message before you even begin to type it.
For example, if someone asks you how your weekend was, Allo will offer options like “it was good” or “it was fun”.
Google has combined the option with photo recognition, which enables Allo to suggest responses to photographs as well.
Allo users will also be able to use the Google Assistant, a bot they can chat with, ask it questions, book flights, restaurants... Google notes that the Assistant is still in the early stages of development and that it will improve with time.
