The foundations and load-bearing columns for the furniture factory of the Italian investor Ditre Italia have been set up in the Bunusevac Free Zone in Vranje. The initial deadline for the completion of the production hall with an area of 5,000 m2 has been moved from late 2016 to early 2017, so the factory is most likely to open in January 2017.

The works on the construction of the Top Sofa factory continued after a month's break, as a mine had been found on the construction site, which later turned out to be an exercise mine.

The investor didn't wish to continue the works under potentially dangerous conditions, so an agreement was made with the local self-government to further examine the parcel and secure it until safety was guaranteed. In order for further delays not to happen, instead of calling a tender, the expenses of the detailed examination of the ground were split between the local self-government and the investor.

– A Nis-based company, Alfa Razminiranje, has determined that there are no exploding mine devices on the ground where the future production hall be be located. As for the works, the foundations have been completed, columns and beams are being prepared, and we can say that the works are going according to schedule – said Marjan Stankovic, city councilor for communal activities and infrastructure.

The construction of the production hall is the first phase of the investment. The hall will spread over 5,000 square meters and will initially provide 200 job positions, along with the 115 employees who already work in Top Sofa, in the rented premises of the company Yumco.

– The continuation on the II and III phase entails the construction of another two-floor hall with each floor having an area of 5,000 square meters, so the factory will have a total area of 15,000 square meters – Stankovic announced.

As announced earlier, the investment of Ditre italia amounts to around EUR 8.5 million, and around 400 workers will be employed in the new factory by the end of 2018.
