Whole of Pester lies on brown coal and lignite, reserves may be 5 billion tons, exploitation, so far-symbolic

After Kosovo, Pester plateau is the richest in coal deposits in the Balkans. It is found only in Stavlja region about 250,000 million tons of coal, and estimated reserves exceed billion. Since there is coal also in the reons of Trebinje, Vrujci, and Sjenica, the reserves are much bigger, even 5 billion tons.
60.000 tons of coal is excavated in Stavalj mine every year, so the reserves can't be exploited at least in the next 500 yeras.
Pester coal is of excelent quality, it is cannel coal, with very little ashes. Surface exploitation is possible in the reon of Mravin polje, so the building of the power station at this location is considered.
