Minister of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications Rasim Ljajic said today that the signing of an agreement on duty-free trade with the member states of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) could be expected by November, but that it depended on the other party, not Serbia.

According to him, the goal is to expand the current level of liberalization to new products, such as Fiat cars, sugar, wine, poultry, tobacco, certain cheeses and types of cotton.

– The contents of the agreement depend on all five member states of the EAEU. The number of Fiat vehicles to be exported to the market will also be defined in the negotiations. We are one of the rare countries which have agreements with both the EU and the EAEU, which makes us interesting to foreign investors – Ljajic said.

The Union consists of Belarus, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Russia, which is, as Ljajic said, a huge market opening new possibilities for Serbia.

He added that the signing of the duty-free agreement with the EAEU countries was an opportunity for Serbian businessmen and that it was very important for drawing foreign investors.
