Sabac to get a car part factory in May 2017 – Yazaki signs Memorandum of understanding with the City


Mayor of Sabac Nebojsa Zelenovic and the representatives of the Japanese company Yazaki have signed the Memorandum of understanding which is the first step towards realizing the investment which should lead to 1,700 employments in Sabac.
This means that a factory for manufacturing electronic car and truck parts will be opened in Sabac within the next year.
The mayor noted this as one of the more important dates and said that they had a lot of work ahead of them to realize their part of the work within the set deadline. He emphasized that they would be working together to educate the workforce needed in Yazaki.
Zelenovic emphasized that the creation of 1,700 new jobs will help reduce unemployment in Sabac by as much as 15% and that a venture this big could not have been undertaken without the help of the Serbian Government.
- After over a year of negotiations, we are signing today a memorandum with one of the world's biggest companies, the Japanese company Yazaki. This investment means that our city will now have its place in the world map of cities in which the biggest and most significant companies are doing business. Creating 1,700 new jobs is important for Sabac, but also for the entire Serbia, and our condition is that the work and knowledge of our fellow citizens which will be employed be honored by adequate salaries. The company's condition is for the employees to possess useful skills and the City of Sabac has prepared a training and additional education program for everyone interested. By signing the Memorandum for this Japanese investment, we have created equal opportunities for everyone to become employed and make a decent living from their work – said Zelenovic.
Yazaki representative Axel Wittenberg expressed his satisfaction and emphasized that, according to the plan, the factory should start operating on May 1 next year. The company is doing business in 46 countries around the world and already has its own factories and halls in Romania, Bulgaria and a few other countries in Europe. Yazaki currently employs over 270,000 people.
- The employees are the primary driving force of the company and a lot of attention is given to relationships with them – said Wittenberg and added that cooperation with schools, universities and the Ministry will be established in order to get qualified workforce, above all mechanical and electrical engineers in the field of car industry.
